3. Host a Fellow in your home
Foreign LFP participants' minimum requirements include:
1. Citizen and resident of Georgia, Russia and/or Ukraine;
2. 25-35 years of age;
3. College graduate (Bachelor’s degree or higher);
3. Relevant experience in and commitment to a career in the public sector;
4. Proficiency in English as demonstrated by TOEFL scores over 550 (paper test) or 213 (computerized test)
5. Demonstrated leadership and collaborative skills; and
6. Legislative experience and knowledge as it relates to the applicant’s home country.
This program targets young professionals with strong leadership skills who are pursuing careers in government. Candidates should demonstrate flexibility and a sincere interest in gaining professional experience by working as a Fellow in a U.S. state legislature, congressional office or city council. This includes a variety of tasks and will likely include some routine administrative work.
American participants' minimum requirements include:
1. Citizen and resident of the United States;
2. Relevant work experience in local, state, or Federal government or with a non-profit that addresses policy issues;
3. Strong commitment to mentoring a promising young professional from Georgia, Russia or Ukraine during his/her fellowship at your office;
4. Interest in working on a collaborative project that addresses LFP goals; and
5. Interest in traveling outbound to aid in its implementation.
Host families' minimum requirements include:
1. Able to provide room and board (two meals a day during the week and three on weekends);
2. Interest in intercultural exchange;
3. Accessibility to public transportation;
4. Host “parents” at least 30 years of age; and
5. English speakers at home (strongly preferred).
